Hi, All;

I only have a limited space for a tunnel on my "being reconstructed" layout. In order to provide decent clearance for adjoining tracks, I have to stagger the tunnel portals.

a) has anyone done this before?

b) do you have pictures or suggestions on what to use to fill-in the "rock" gaps? I'd prefer to not slather plaster all over the tunnel portals themselves, but would rather tuck something in behind the openings.

Thanks for any suggestions;

I used rigid foam for a staggered tunnel entrance using a Scenic Express double portal and a Scenic Express single portal.  As you can see, the paint doesn’t quite match.  Maybe someday, I’ll repaint and/or weather it so it matches better.

As JDADDY said, you could also make your own double.   Here is a masonry arch over a roadway as an example of a roll-your-own arch using rigid foam.
