Check out Tonys Train Town in Cedar Grove NJ.  Just minutes from route 80 in Northern NJ.  Sadly after the original owner of 37 years passed away in June, the store will be closing, but for now there is a huge liquidation sale going on.  There have been quite a few recent post on the forum regarding the sale.

I'm not sure if Trains and Lanes (Easton PA - just north of I 78) is an authorized Lionel Dealer.

I last visited it about 2 years ago when my daughter was at Lafayette College.

From a marketing point of view, it is probably the most unappealing train store that I have even been to. Picture an old supermarket whose shelves have been filled with trains and not dusted for decades. There were rows after rows of brand new Lionel, MTH and original Kline sets. There were rows ad rows of rolling stock from all major manufacturers. The back wall had glass cabinets with several hundred engines. I doubt than anyone knew what was in stock or where to find anything. I shuttered when I thought of the value of the inventory.

Then there was the HO, N, and slot car sections. The store has a large indoor slot car track.

Add to this grumpy employees and you will understand why the inventory is so large. Prices also seemed on the high side.

BTW - I left empty handed, although I suspect I could have found some real goodies there.

You can also get off on I 81 North near Hazleton and go to Gryzboski's just south of Scranton in Moosic (right at an exit - check their ads) and Scranton Hobby Center in Scranton and then get on I 380 and return to I 80 in Tannersville.
