Pulled out the track for the Christmas layout and have it out.  I am having a issue where the trains are stopping at the MTH RealTrax operating tracks.  I like to run the trains slow to keep the noise down, so at 10mph scale, the trains will pause or stop.  At 15mph, the trains will pass.  On my outside loop which is long, the diesel will get into clickty clack.  When it hits the operating track, it resets.  I have turned the tracks both directions and have checked the tabs for connections all around the loop.  I even tried moving the lock-ons around to other sides of the operating tracks with no change.

I have not wired these to the AIU yet, but that should not matter.

Any ideas?

Obviously the power is being interrupted. Check if power is on the center rail of the section and also if the outer rails are grounded. Loose track pins or whatever could be the cause. Run a jumper from the hot to the center ail of the section where it stops. See if that stops the problem.  I guess you are running command.

Without knowing the track or engine product numbers I'd guess the track has an insulated outer rail and it is the insulated ground rail causing your issues. Easily check the center rail power with a meter or a illuminated caboose. If center rail has power the combination of insulated ground rail and rubber tire would seem to be your issue..

You can always jump that rail with a piece of wire to verify.

Can you believe it?  At 3 of my trains had internal wiring issues.  2 with broken wires to one truck and the 4-6-0 steamer the PS3 connector had loose wires in the plug.  So frustrating....

The MTH ReaTrax operating tracks have a sizable dead spot on the center rail.  With only one truck picking up power, when it would go over the dead spot, the train would die or reset.
