Monday I ordered the first new O scale locomotive in many months, years, from Trainworld. I have had a number of dealings with them going back to my HO days.   Ordered Monday morning and it landed at my door this afternoon!!  Fast shipping, well packed and with a 10% off coupon they had sent me....a great deal.

Just another great transaction from an OGR sponsor.....thanks on a number of levels........just a FYI.......THX

Beware of their NOS (new old stock). I bought a steam locomotive and it arrived damaged because it had not been properly packaged in it's foam cradle. A foam block to protect the front of the locomotive was placed in some unrelated cavity of the foam cradle and served no purpose. They did take it back and refund the purchase price, but not the original shipping cost. So, I lost $25 and was disappointed. I, of course, shipped it back to them properly packaged, but the damage was already done.

When I would order from them in the early 1990's each shipment would include a photocopy of their for sale list. I could high light what I wanted and send it back. With a check of course. No internet, no phone trees, just pure mail order.

Always got what i ordered - well packed too.

Sean -

Admittedly there is something very pleasant about looking over a price list or flyer, considering your options, making your decisions, sitting down at the desk to write out the check and putting that envelope in the mail.

Mouse clicks are neither fun nor involving. I still send checks here and there, when I can. (It's one of the things I enjoy about buying 3rd Rail items - they notify me - eventually! - and I send them a check.) It's a more tactile experience, and I am in no hurry - models are not life or death items. The wait can be enjoyable - Christmas Eve was always better than Christmas morning - and not because my presents weren't up to snuff.

I remember my first visit in Brooklyn after many years of seeing their ads in various magazines.  It was overwhelming, not unlike my first time at a York Meet.

Visit to another similarly-named store in Queens was somewhat underwhelming.  They had good stock but would not honor their magazine prices in the store.

So I got my goodies from TrainWorld.
