Dry sand paper on a block or your Dremel Tool, with a Sanding Band, 60 grit
part# 408 - Do it very slow. on the top part of the tubular track.

Ill give that a try. Im beginning to believe it it just the nature of the beast.
Are you running some Marx or pre-war trains with the large gear on the drive wheel? That bounces when it hits the plastic guide rails of the cross.
If it is the rail ends, then trainroom has it. It's just that when you start to get smoothness you have taken off enough to begin to expose the folded\compressed rail end.
Nope all modern MTH and Lionel locomotives.
