Use iPad App and iCab together?

I use them together but tend to use CAB2 or iCab on an iPhone for engine control and iPad for LCS.  Its not impossible but since the iCab on iPad needs to be portrait and LCS is native landscape you'll be flipping the iPad a lot as well.

I use the legacy remote to operate!

I also use the High Rail App.  The ability to use gestures saves me from looking at the iPhone.  A lot of the time it just depends on how I feel.  Admittedly though the Cab 2 is usually the most used.

I use the Cab 2 & my twin grandsons use the Ipad & my I phone.  Works great except for some reason I have to reset the max speed every time they come to operate the trains & I know its not them changing it because I check as soon as they start an engine.

How did you install the ICab app on a IPod? Whem I search on the IPad it does not find the app.

Make sure you check iPhone only on the iPad.
