Hi, I am here to foist upon you another contemporary narrow gauge video from somewhere around the world.  This film shows a logging operation of a narrow gauge railway that goes off into hinterlands somewhere in Eurasia. I feel like I'm not doing my job by finding out where it is for sure, (it may be in Slovakia) but the video shows how much of a commercial force as well as a lifeline to everyone along the right of way. Imagine Americanizing it with our Bachmann side rod diesels and critters. I feel it sets a mood, and it might lend some ideas for our layouts.

Thrill as they sand the rails with rocks, and re-rail freight cars with their bare hands.

EDIT: With some further searching, it turns out this line is in Romania. It is privately owned, though the engines look like they once belonged to the state.

Wow...that movie is most interesting! I had to watch it several times. One can't help but to think that many of our 1880-1910 logging roads HAD to be much the same. The engines would have been steam (there's a very short snippet of a steam loco at 14:36) and the log loading would have been using steam donkeys and horses. But, that would have been life on our logging lines in the woods.

Thanks for sharing!
