I saw the 5 road specific single flats with wood (looked like planks maybe?), but no skeleton cars or flats w/logs.  Also the Logging Disconnect cars (I need to learn what that is - looks like a log mounted to 2 trucks maybe?)

Dave,

They have Logging Disconnect cars and Flats with Lumber Loads in this catalog. Pages 42 & 43.

We have them up for Pre-Order: http://www.nassauhobby.com/O-S...OLLING-STOCK/?page=5

Enjoy!

No mistake.  I perhaps wasn't clear enough that I did see the 5 flats with wood and also the Disconnect 2 pack and single (which actually do seem to have logs by necessity, otherwise it would just be 2 trucks rolling down the layout ).

It seems really odd, especially for what I am pretty sure are new roadname Heislers (Kinzua Pines, Mount Rainier, St Regis Paper) to not have any named rolling stock listed with them.  I looked under passenger cars also for the scenic roads, but doesn't seem like there is anything there either.

What I was looking for was either skeletons or flats with LOGS (where there is a roadname/number on each car). Like when Lionel used to offer 3 packs of each across a few catalogs with Shays or Heislers.

It was first flats with logs for the shays, going all the way back to the 1992 one, then the skeleton cars that eventually came out, probably in the early 2000's.  More recent engines (like 2 truck Shays) have only had the skeletons, no sets of flats like I am describing have come out for years, I don't think.

I haven't seen a close up of the Disconnect cars, but being it's just a single unit and a 2 pack, it wouldn't seem to have any roadname associated with them (and it looks like there would be no place for it).  These look like they might be interesting, so maybe I will go for a set of the 3.  I may even go for the flats with wood for any roadnames where I have a previous engine.

Well, if you believe the catalog, the Consolidations have the whistle-steam banner on Pg34.  And I have a feeling if you ask Lionel, that's all they'll tell you as well.  It would be nice if a product manager would speak with authority on these issues, but that seldom seems to happen... (i.e., think back to when we asked if the Lionel CZ observation car would have a dome.)

In this case, I'd certainly hope if the catalog highlighted that feature, the locomotive would be produced with it.  But Lionel is also protected by the legal "wiggle words" in the back of the catalog:  "Items depicted in this catalog are subject to change in price, color, size, design and availability.  Verify product features on package."

Certainly doesn't help all that much in today's BTO era.    But it's as good as we're gonna get until the shipping container arrives Stateside.

Yes... I recall that, Doug.  I think Lionel and its dealers are still trying to unload those locomotives -- despite blow-out prices.  So hopefully, Lionel learned a lesson on that misstep.

Charlie, the NYC GP9 is shown in gray with lighting stripes. Can you find out if it will produced as shown or cigar band? There's a note next to the engine saying it will have rooftop airtanks and that it's never been produced in NYC cigar band paint scheme. Not really clear which they are producing.

Is the date imminent (like this Friday or maybe a week or 2 away)?  I know it is before York.

Thanks.
