I just read your old posts about it. Sloppy from Lionel, eh? Mine came without the hose details on the rear pilot. I asked for them so I could put (glue) them on and was refused. Send it back they said. Not for something so simple I thought. Someday when they get the parts up, I'll buy the pilot with the trim pieces and fix it myself.

Hi Marty,

Yes it did I had talked about this before with you  thinking at first it was the antenna/body was grounding out but that was not it, Lionel said it is was probably a board ?  I understand repairs take time but 6 weeks, and they could not tell me how much longer it would be, just disgusted.

Thanks Marty

I Wish I could have just sent it up to you.

Mine was jerky from the moment I put it on the tracks and it went back for repair. I called after 4 weeks of radio silence and they basically said they have so many returns for repair on this thing that I should expect it to take another 2-3 weeks. Not sure if you called Lionel Customer Service, but my guess is if you had they would have told you the same thing they told me.  A lot more helpful and productive than airing frustration on a chat board.

Guess they are just back logged. Same thing happened to me when my Legacy 990 went back for repair. As I recall, it took just over a month to get it back when everyone else was saying 1-2 weeks. They said they had a big backlog back then as well. Maybe it also depends on what time of year you send it in, mine went in about this time of year too, their busiest time I think.

Just to add to the discussion, my GG1 went back to Lionel and was received  by them  January 30th. The problem was with the front pantograph not working(it quit). Called a few times and they do not have a date for the repair as they are trying to figure out the correct fix as it sounds like there are many issues with the GG1. Really not acceptable but I have no choice. Its getting close to refund time!!! So due t these results no BTO for me until is see the working models and with no issues. My new models are coming from Scott this year!! LOL. Cheers Don

Lionel has my GG1 as well. I sent it back in January! I've been emailing their customer service dept every few weeks for an update, it took about 2 weeks to see a tech, then they have been waiting for parts to come in. They are certainly backlogged and I hope they take this as a lesson to beef up quality control form the manufacturer.

I keep checking for GG1 parts and see none listed. I hope they kept many for parts.

Also I wonder if different GG1 models had chronic issues or if the issues are distributed to all the GG1 variations.

I would doubt you will see parts listed much before the 2 year warranty period is up.  The VL Big Boy parts are limited even now.

As far as whether one model is having more issues than other, beyond the paint and sound file they're pretty much the same on the inside so I suspect thats improbable.
