I have a New Haven 6464. Overall the car is in near pristine shape. No rust, crisp, good graphics and paint.
I have noticed warping in the shell. See photos below. I don't expect to be able to fix this but is this common in Postwar 6464s? Hope this won't get much worse...
I also see the car doesn't sit "straight". Rather it leans. Any way to fix this? I don't see any obvious way to do so.

What is the red thing on the left side of the photo? It looks like it is between the body and the frame. Take the one screw out of the body, remove the shell and look at the floor. Lay it on a flat surface. Is it flat or warped. Maybe you can twist it into shape.
How are the trucks attached? Rivet or post with "C" clip? Maybe those are bent also.
I would take the shell off and put a good rubber band around the warped area and hit it with a hair dryer, might have to do a couple of times, but should work, Don't over heat it...

1 - The only warped postwar 6464 boxcars I've noticed were ones that had heat damage.
2 - the car doesn't sit straight - - check the trucks. You may have a bent, distorted truck. That is fairly common.

There is no obvious heat damage to this car. It has no rust and is as clean and pristine as they come. I will have to take the shell off to look at the frame/trucks more closely. I'll try to do so tomorrow
I assume the "red thing" in the photo is what is seen on the side of the car - that is the door seen through the gap in between the shell and the frame. It is the New Haven 6464 with orange doors.
Wow, you got me worried now. I haven't seen my 6464 cars in a number of years. Guess it's time to check them out. I have never heard of any self induced warpage in the past. Hopefully there is no zinc pest allowed in the old plastic resins.
