NCNG,

I looked for a similar post in the 3 rail forum but did not find one so I'll comment here. I have the Weaver Milwaukee Road Baltic and love it! The detail is fantastic and it looks impressive. Unfortunately for Weaver this was not a good seller so they were blowing them out at the end. I picked this up brand new for a substantially reduced price. Had I known how nice it looked I would have bought one when they came out.

Running this locomotive I found that the conventional performance was okay. Once I dug out my TMCC CAB-1 this locomotive really started to run. I won't run this without the CAB-1 now that I have seen the difference. I don't run smoke and I usually turn the sounds way down. I enjoy the sound of wheels on the track.

FWIW, the title of the thread is, "Weaver GS-2 4-8-4 so I'll address what little I know about that particular model.

The biggest problem I'm aware of is the tender.  The tender is a GS-4 type and is completely incorrect for a GS-2.

As a matter of fact, I wanted to buy some of the Weaver tenders for the GS-1s I'm building but decided not to because of all the work required to get them even close to being accurate.

If you can see your way past this then I'd say get one and enjoy the value.

Jay
