The Merchant's Limited......the LCCA set.....I wish it had been done with can motors and traction tires.  It cannot pull the extra B unit and baggage/combo cars on non-Lionel track.

In the PostWar era, Lionel made 4 New Haven engines:

EP-5

F3

Alco FA in AA and then single A configurations.

I am fortunate to own one set of each. Over the next few weeks I will showcase one of them.

Thank you very much, Neal!

Unfortunately I am trying to reacquire some of my skills after second carpal tunnel surgery in both hands and nagging arthritis.  In the meantime, I am having fun with a fastrack layout on a outdoor carpeted 4x8 table.

A few iPhone layout photos from now....

My friend George and I visited Toy Trains and Collectibles, owned by fellow National Capital Tracker members Dan and Hope Danielson in Manassas, VA today. Dan has been open for a while but we hadn't gotten to his store until today. What a great store! Make a point to stop in if you are ever in the area.

I purchased several MTH #35 street lights that you can see in the photos below.

A few random layout photos from now. Other than one of MTH's "old west" style buildings (on my York list), I think I'm out of room to put more stuff and have nearly run out of juice to run it all. I've  got an MTH Z-1000 running accessories and Z1ks running the table top loops - all have the brick's accessory ports filled. Any and every port for accessory power is full, including a full terminal block for the accessory Z1k. My wiring probably isn't really photo worthy either...

One of my favorite things is watching a layout develop and evolve. Compare the photos taken today, 10/3/15 above to this photo taken in February of this year.

More progress on my RailRunner... I finished the locomotive!  (Insert happy dance here) Next step is to start decaling the pax cars...

I also went and ran our newly acquired Lionel PS2-ified Yellow Belly at AGHR this weekend.  It looks and runs great.  Thus near-scale version still looks pretty good with our set of Railking cars.

We also had a pantograph go missing in one of our club tunnels during Saturday's Running of a The Trains.  This McGyver-ism (a flashlight taped to the club camera caboose) was our attempt to search the less accessible tunnels remotely.  Watching the feed was a lot like those shows on the Discovery channel, where they are searching an undersea wreck with an ROV and watching dark grainy footage from the surface ...but we saw a blip, and ultimately followed that lead to find our missing part.  Also... I now have a neat idea for a tunnel inspection vehicle.
