It's Friday so that means the Long Island Rail Road's "Cannonball Express" to the Hamptons and Montauk is running west. Here is a "shortened version" on my layout. More photos of the new Imperial Mikado to follow this weekend. Working on the layout again...more moving this around. I finally opted to swap my 0-27 inner loop with 0-31. Now I just have to get everything back together.

Continuing with my Observation Car theme, this week’s photo is dedicated to Carl “Pingman” who requested this famous Northern Pacific North Coast Limited model. This is a truly magnificent K-Line 21” Observation car with the famous Raymond Loewy design with the two-tone green paint scheme.

As of now, the set is relegated to siding duty waiting for the 3rd Rail F7’s to arrive in September. But as soon as the diesels are shipped, this train is destined for strictly main line service. Hope you all like this photo

Do you have any NYC 20th century limited cars? I probably will just put Amtrak behind my Dreyfuss for now. I missed the GG version.

Brian, that has been one of my favorite passenger trains for a long, long time.  I spent many hours as a kid staring at that train in the mid 50's American Flyer catalog seen here.

Spencer is all excited as the observation car from the famous California Zephyr is parked on a siding by the Spencer depot.  The Milwaukee Road Hiawatha is stopped at the station too.  City officials are talking about removing the plumbing shop through eminent domain to make a bigger parking lot at the station.

A typical scene along the Redwood Empire Route--vacationland for millions of tourists who want to taste Wine Country.  Although I haven’t yet modeled it, winery tours begin in the little restored NWP train station at the Korbel Champagne Cellars.  Korbel also has a deli, and sitting outdoors under the redwood trees sipping the Russian River Beer that they sell while looking over their vineyard toward the river is the good life.  These views along the banks of the Russian River and the other wine districts here in the North Bay are absolutely fantastic.

PTC, you've made my day--simply beautiful observation car.  THANKS!

Just working on a few smaller projects lately.  Below you can see my progress in creating Waldo.  He started out as a Heroclix scarecrow... and my first "kitbash" of a figure seems to be going well so far.  I made his cane out of some small diameter brass rod.

I'm also finishing up my improvements on an MTH water tower.  Gone are the ladder that would be oversize in G-scale and the original bands.  I also added a spotlight that turns on when the tower is activated.  Still need to add ground cover to the base, but otherwise done.
