Let's get the pictures going this morning. Welcome to Weekend Photo Fun!

This Saturday is Grandparents Day at the VMT here in Roanoke, reduced admission prices and train rides. We will also be running our scale trains on the layout. This will also be the final weekend for the Jurassic World section of the layout. Next Wednesday I pack it away and begin the transition to a Halloween section.

I saw No. 90 during the Noon Shop Tour. The 10-ton-capacity overhead crane could not lift a locomotive. Our guide told us that No. 90 was moved back into the shop. Her first set of drivers was lowered into the drop pit (under the black planks beneath her ashpan). Then she was moved forward to drop the second set, and so on. When her fifth (rear) driver set is replaced, she will be moved backward to replace the others. Her pilot truck is still in place. Repairs will be completed in November so she can handle holiday trains. Then ex-CN 2-6-0 No. 89 will be shopped.

A wooden heavyweight B&O coach from the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern is being restored. Exterior paneling was glued to those small wooden triangles. This will be something to see!

Fired up for some work, ex-N&W 4-8-0 No. 475 stood in a perfect "rods down" pose.

Another busy week - in & out of the train room. Worked on expanding the yard by adding another 7' board & added skirting.

Also started the first of my planned gondola repaints - Just out of my miniature erecting shops last is this CN gon. Dullcoat & weathering are waiting for him

I have a few more to do, but in the meantime they are in service w/ patches

Here's an NS SD60 leading a mixed freight -

Following him is Amtrak's Pennsylvanian -

NS ES44AC 8164 leads eastbound Portsmouth, OH - Carneys Point, NJ bound coal train 874 on the Harrisburg Line in Hummelstown, PA-

NS SD70M 2596 passes 67W as it heads east w/ 61N at Harrisburg, PA -

67W had the LV Heritage unit trailing -

NS SD60M 6800 ( ex CR 5564) leads the power from NS 294 through Bound Brook, NJ on the Lehigh Line

NS ES40DC 7682 leads a westbound stack train through Wabun, VA on the Christiansburg District

Strasburg Action -

We received our Lionel Cumbres and Toltec Narrow Gauge Railroad boxcars this week and they are on the way to those who ordered them.  This is the first of three New Mexico themed cars we are doing for the Rio Grande Chapter of the Desert Division to support their TCA convention in 2019.

Here's a photo I took last month of a beautiful (people and scenery), bucolic village, Homer, New York. This is the main street through town. It reminded me of vista many of us might have pictured in our imaginations as we have crafted our layouts.

This village street also made me think of Andre's new business, River Leaf Models, of creating his excellent kits, because these seem like structures he might like.

Also, perhaps for your modeling pleasure or reference, here are some pastoral scenes of a horse ranch I saw along Rt. 11 on the way through Pennsylvania to Upstate New York. They seemed a friendly, peaceful bunch.

Perhaps the fact that she's married might make you think twice...or not.

Just go to Strasburg. If you need some machine work done or a locomotive fixed, so much the better.

If you don't have a locomotive to fix, bring a speeder, a stuck switch stand, or a set of wheels to be "trued." That should get things started.

Long story short, I can see again.

About 18 months ago I rapidly lost 97% of focus in my left eye.

Thanks to Dr. Wang’s bladeless laser treatment, I’m like new again!

It didn’t seem to affect my artistry but it sure makes everything in daily life a lot easier now.

This is stunning news, sir. I am sad to hear you had such a difficulty but glad to hear you have been healed. On this forum, you seem like such a pleasant fellow and are such a gifted artist that learning you had such a serious problem is awful to learn. Be well, every day, and have happiness.

FrankM.

Glad it all worked out well for you Steve. Losing your eyesight can be a frightening event. I would have never known by looking at your weathered masterpieces.
