Moonson,

When you posted the pictures last week(?) I wanted to ask if that was Cortland County. We own 100 acres on Mcgraw Marathon rd.

Aubv, did you make this portal or buy it?  Thanks

I made them. Masonite, a small molding(cornice)and embossed paper. These are intentionally small openings, 3-1/4" wide and 5-1/8" tall.

Several months ago, I lamented the closing of Weaver. I commented that I had wanted a Weaver 2-8-0. JohnB emailed me to let me know of a locomotive his club had for sale. It originally was an undecorated model that had been weathered and carrying the Lackawanna livery. We completed the deal.

My new 2-8-0 was sent off to the backshop. My good friend and fellow RC3R club member Walt painted and relettered the locomotive for me. He left the weathering on the running gear and trucks alone. To say the least I am delighted.

Tom,

Wow, the Consolidation looks great in N&W liver. I will show the pictures to the guys at the BDSME tonight (meeting night). I am sure they will be delighted to see the engine putting on a great show for itself. Another satisfied customer of our company store......that sounds great.

Happy to see that you were able to acquire a Weaver 2-8-0. My favorite locomotive, model and real.

The 2-8-0 wheel arrangement was a real workhorse of U.S. railroads for half a century beginning with the first built in 1866 for a predecessor of the Lehigh Valley Railroad.

[the name "Consolidation" applied to the 2-8-0 was used to commemorate the merger of several short lines to form the LV].

Long story short, I can see again.

About 18 months ago I rapidly lost 97% of focus in my left eye.

Thanks to Dr. Wang’s bladeless laser treatment, I’m like new again!

It didn’t seem to affect my artistry but it sure makes everything in daily life a lot easier now.

If you are referring to photos such as these, yes, the village is Homer, NY, which is in Cortland County, and the rural scenes are along Brake Hill Road, off Grange Road, off Rt.41, which I believe is still in Cortland County. I'll be back there tomorrow to hike that hill and forest, and to get more fresh corn and homemade pies from Mr. Anderson's market along Rt.281.
