Another very large railcar model.  This one is a depressed center well car. This car has 12 axles.

O Scale ABWX 20001 well hole flatcar with transformer load.

Here is a very unusual well hole flatcar designed to transport large transformers.  The load is mounted in the well and is supported by side rails unlike the usual depressed center cars. According to available data it was built in 1967.

I, too, like the K-line (I miss K-line) die-cast 1:48 propeller flat - I have it. Problem is, so far as I know, a propeller would never be shipped in that position: 2 blades up, one down. A top-heavy situation.

I forget if it can be re-positioned.

One reason I like propeller cars is that I live in a seaport city where propellers are/were made for ocean-going ships. Those pre-cad/cam mold-makers had some set of skills.

Nice looking car! Wish I had one; I too miss K-Line. They had a market niche all of their own. As to the prop position; I agree it looks awkward, but if you think about it, it can't be top heavy in that position or it would want to rotate until the C of G was lowest. And that would in turn mean the prop is not balanced on its shaft, which clearly is not the case. Props are designed to be balanced on their axis to avoid vibration in service.

I've always liked "opera window" center beam flat cars. I had an old MTH car which had a minor-league load and the trucks in the wrong place. Remembering an article in O Scale News by another forum member, I re-worked my car (truck relocation, frame shortening, Weaver trucks, Intermountain wheels, Kadee couplers) and installed a better lumber load (actually 44 loads).I haven't had time to put the straps on but that's coming down the road. It tracks very well because of the weight. I'm looking for another one to model as an empty.

No Robert.

Lionel made these some time back (I think the 90's).  The loads are nice but I never cared for the flatcars they were on so I moved them to a Lionel flat, weathered the wood base, added chain and fastened down.

Thought those came with the Titanic set as well.

These are the two cars Lionel did with the propellers; the second one is the one from the Titanic set. I did the same thing as Dave, taking the loads from the "Naval Support" flatcar I had and mounting them on a Lionel scale flatcar.

Here I kitbashed a First Gear diecast Caterpillar engine and mounted it on a Lionel diecast depressed flatcar. I painted the "wooden" end portions of the car deck with textured paint with some contrast, and lettered the flatcar for UP. The flatcar is no. 9233, which originally was part of the Mid-Atlantic Limited set Lionel did in 1980.
