I've been off coffee for 4 years. In my area, there is a Dunkin Donuts coffee shop on every corner ... they're like crack dealers. And, they had me .... bad!

Now when I have a leisurely weekend morning .... still up at 5:30 ... go out with the dog so she can happily chase away whatever deer/bear/groundhog may be out there .... stir up a big 1% milk & Hershey's Syrup ... go into my small home office to log onto the NY Times to see what insane stuff is going on in the world and to do some switching on my little HO layout. (my O layout is at my buddy's house)

I have a theory about DD Coffee.  Watch how they make it.  Sugar first, followed by cream, then the coffee.  They don't stir it, they just put on the lid.

Off you go drinking your coffee.  By the time you get to the last 25%, you are drinking the sweetest, creamiest part of the coffee.  As you finish up you put your cup down and say, "That was some good coffee!"  And then you are hooked.

Just my theory anyway.

I can't run trains in the AM either as I'm up at 5.  On the weekend, my son might start his morning running the newest engine and blaring the horn or whistle.

My day starts at 0230 with coffee at my workbench where I tinker with a engine or a piece of rolling stock. At 0300 I turn on the East coast news while I enjoy another cup. At 0400 I boot up the computer and read my various forums. At 0700 my wife has breakfast ready. Then it's off to my recliner for my morning nap. Yes, I'm a creature of habit. I've had the same routine for twenty years.

My wife gets me up at 8:30 am. She will have my breakfast ready for me to eat. My breakfast consists of a bowl of frosted shredded wheat, (2) slices of wheat toast dry and a small glass of prune juice to swallow (8) pills. After breakfast she fixes me a cup of black coffee which I carry into the front room. Here, I get into my recliner and do a sudoku puzzle while I enjoy my coffee. About 9:30 I get out of the recliner and go to the computer to watch the Amtrak train ( Pennsylvanian) go through Cresson. While waiting for the train I will read the forum. After I read the forum I play hearts on the computer. After a time on the computer, I get wash and dressed. Then its off to the American Legion for a glass of cranberry juice. I love talking with the folks there.

This is really a neat thread.  Its fascinating to read the different routines we all have for those early morning hours.  I absolutely love the early morning time.  The house and neighborhood are both quiet and its like starting a brand new life every day because every day life is full of new possibilities.

I pretty much skip morning because I'm a night owl. I usually get up around 10, unless I have to be somewhere. I don't drink coffee ever. No donuts either. I check the forum and my email. I get something to eat, most of you would call it lunch. If one of the guys is coming over to work on the layout with me, we start at noon and go til 5:30.

If nobody is coming over, we might run errands, then I'll go work on the layout myself for the rest of the afternoon.
