Friends,

Okay, its time for my annual, "what train related gift do you want for the holidays?" question. Every year, I remind everyone that on Thanksgiving, we will be getting together with family and/or friends, and at that time we are asked what we want for the holidays. Last year, I wanted Legacy, but it was not available. I finally got it in September like many others on the forum.

I don't have a specific train related item that I have to have this year. Nothing is really calling out to me. In fact, I do not have anything on pre-order. I am not even craving a Vision Line Big Boy, even if I had the curves to run it on. My MTH Railking Imperial Big Boy, which was 1/3 the price of the Vision Line Big Boy on sale for around $2000 is more than adequate for me and has two motors.

What I really want for Christmas this year is better quality control among the O gauge train importers to varying degrees. I am not a rivet counter and would rather have non scale locomotives that run on 031 or 042 curves and have in cast in details (like MTH Railking Imperial or Lionel Lionmaster locomotives) than separately applied details that cost more and break off more easily. However, quality above anything else is the overriding factor for me when purchasing anything.  Frankly, I have become tired of noisy smoke units and would like to see better quality smoke unit motors that do not buzz and/or fail after just a few hours use. Locos, irregardless of cost  should work out of the box and pieces should not fall off when taking them out for the first time.

So, the questions is, what train related item do you want Santa to bring you for the holidays.

Thanks for responding. Have a great Thanksgiving and run some trains this weekend.

I have no need for anything, except a working layout. That is the true thing I want - a reliable, working layout. Something that has been hard to find in my house for the past year or so.

However, I was in the local "chain" hobby shop and they had a Lionel Union Pacific Gold Coast Flyer RTR set in the display case. Those aren't something I'd usually go after but this was a really nice looking set with RS also. Wouldn't mind having one of those.....

This year, my birthday is right before Thanksgiving, so I'll be doubly happy, at least I hope so. And Christmas should be equally enjoyable this year, too.

Out of everything for this year, I am wanting the Lionel newly released 765 NKP Berkshire - hopefully I'll catch it.

Though I'm also wanting the LCS WiFi module, 990 Legacy system, and Legacy Conrail SD40-2...and really that's it for the expensive stuff. Everything else is pretty cheap.

Me too!

Or more K-Line 21' passenger cars.  PTC has shown me the light! I can't get enough of these outstanding cars!

I'm very thankful for all the great things in my life this year.  Sometimes things happen during the year to make you evaluate what is really important-wife, family, home, and great friends.

"My health so that I'm able to work on the layout & enjoy life. A year ago I was having a kidney taken out."

Sure hope that you get your wish, Spence. I bet you are glad that this surgery is behind you now.

As for the original question, a set of K-Line 21" passenger cars. In particular, the Northern Pacific North Coast Limited set.

Brian - If you are a good boy between now and Christmas, I think you have a good chance of being happy with Santa this year.

So what do you want Santa to bring......

Some dead presidents.  Y'all the ones, those dudes on the paper money!

This will help pay off my 3rd Rail Train of Tomorrow, due for arrival sometime next month.

Unfortunately, I have to leave it in the boxes for a while as I still need to get the time to expand the layout.

p.s. hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I'd also be happy with a $1,000.00 gift certificate for Lowes or Home Depot so I could get materials to start a layout.

Well I got a bushel of "likes" on this one.  Thanks, folks.  I hope Santa is listening.

hmmm I can not think of anything I need or want train related.  but I do want santa to bring my niece and nephews what they want for Christmas.  and for me I would say peace on earth and good will to all is about all I want.  maybe a small side of people being good to each other.  but for me I am very wealthy I have a wonderful family, which are 2 sisters, a great mother, one niece and two nephews.  we all get along well.  so I would say I am very blessed and very wealthy in the only way that really matters.

I am going to the local TCA show with a few $$ in my pocket and try to get a Xmas gift or  two for myself. A nice Lionel PW GG1 would be nice but, other than that, I will look for targets of opportunity. At the last show I bought a very nice, reasonably priced  Lionel motor with all the running gear of a 4-6-4. would like to find a loco shell to go with it. Maybe  nice operating signal or accessory would work.  "Dumpster diving" in the bargain basement boxes under the tables is always fun, too.
