I picked up a Lionel Standard Gauge No.8 boxcab at York. Trying to find out about when they were built but not having much luck. Can anyone give me a time frame?

Thursday afternoon between 1pm and 5pm. Or there about.
In the years 1925 thru 1932 according to my Dave Doyle guide.
Also three colors, dark olive, maroon, and peacock or pea green.

The #8 was cataloged from 1925 - 1932. The #8E was cataloged from 1926 - 1932.

Thanks, with the above info was able to find it on my Lionel Catalogs DVD. Now to hit eBay and find some cars to go with it

In all my years, I've yet to run across another.
If you can wait to locate your cars. Find yourself Greenberg's Guide to Prewar Lionel, Vol. I (It's a hardback). With it you should be able to tell exactly what year & variation your engine is. Based on that you'll be able to find which cars came with your engine. Providing it was a originally cataloged.

There is a new book "Greenberg’s Guide to Lionel® Standard and
27⁄8 Gauges, 1901-1940" sitting on the docks in L.A. awaiting a solution to a labor problem. It is 432 pages with 900+ photos. T'aint cheap $100 but it is loaded with a lot of info.

I'm waiting on my copy as well. Didn't Bruce say that we would receive our prepaid copies sometime in November?
One of my close friends will have a large part of his collection featured in the O-Gauge book due out sometime in 2016. I've been able to enjoy his collection in person for many years. Someone else will enjoy my copy.

The Los Angeles shipment and the New York shipment of Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Standard and 2-7/8" Gauge have both arrived in port and after clearing customs will be trucked to Virginia. I expect to start shipping late next week. Thank you very much for your patience.
