I know back in the 80's for a short time, CSX had a Roadrailer service.  Why did they use FP7's on some of the Roadrailer trains?  I know they were geared for high speeds but wouldn't something with higher horsepower like a GP40-2 or B36-7 that they used on their other intermodal trains made more sense?

Those trailers didn't take much power to get them rolling at a decent speed. In the '80's they were limited to 100 trailers per train, and left Fort Wayne lots of times with only 1 C39-8 on the point.

I did not know how lightweight Roadrailer trains were.  I just thought it was interesting they used FP7's over something more modern for the time.
