If MTH would ship the darn PS3 upgrade kits already, you could really put together a nice set if you were electronically inclined.  I did this a couple of years back with a Williams E-7 A-A set but since I'm NOT electronically inclined, I had to pay for the upgrade.  It was worth it - I really wanted an E-7 AA set, and MTH wasn't offering the PRR livery at that time.  I think the whole thing set me back around $450, which is more than a Railking E-8 set cost, but it was scale.  I sold it like a dope - it was just too big for my layout at the time.   

Anyway, these have great motors;  my set could probably have pulled a stump.  Detail is pretty good at any price and great for the money!!!

Uh, MTH has not offered an E7 set. Perhaps you mean E8's?

Any chance for sale pricing on a F-3 B-unit?

What road names are offered in their E7's this year?

My wife's uncle forwarded me the email of this sale.  If I wasn't needing to pay off my Big Boy I would so get the NH set and add TMCC to them.  But them I'd also need to find a fleet of matching passenger cars to pull with them...

Are these brand new WBB or are they new in the box from a few years ago?

Last time I checked with Williams/Bachmann they were not going to make any more dummy engines.

Keep in mind that these are F7's, based on Kusan molds, not F3's, which are (almost identical) copies of Lionel PW F3's.

Edit for clarification of antecedent of "F3's":  The Williams F7's are very different from the Williams F3's, which are almost clones of the Lionel F3's.

Gordon Z, are you saying that Kusan molds used by Williams/WBB are almost identical copies of LIONEL's PW F3's?  If so, what's the major difference?

No.

The Williams F-7's are made from the old AMT/Kusan molds.

The Williams F-3's are copies of postwar Lionel F-3's.

They are two different artistic renderings by two different companies and two different industrial artists.

If you remove the frame from an F-7 B unit, you can shave off the mounting posts in the body. Re-shape the end ladders, and you can have an F-7 B unit that is the same height as the Lionel and Williams F-3 units. I did that years ago when I needed a B unit to match my Lionel F-3 A units, and before Williams made F-3's.

I have a few sets of WBB/Williams F-7's.....would be nice if they upgraded to the K-Line loco as it is MUCH nicer......owning a set of them too.

For those who are not familiar with the Kusan based F7, it might be good to look back on the Forum for some of the threads about them. Perhaps someone could post a photo of the two WIlliams models side by side for comparison..

Great sale, very tempting.  But I just purchased a Williams F-3 Santa Fe set with all six aluminum cars and have been on the lookout for the matching B-unit.  I know the F-7's were a special buy and not regular stock, but as my father taught me, no harm in asking.
