I purchased a WS General Store new. It arrived and I went to mount it and noticed it didn't have any lights. I thought it was supposed to be lighted but I cannot remember where I ordered it from Does anyone know if the first generation model of the General Store came unlit?

I can add LEDs with no problem but I just want to know if I was cheated.

RR,

I did this a few years ago.  Pretty sure I poked a small hole in the tops of the backgrounds.  This was just before LED lighting became the standard for buildings, so all I did was run a small bulb and socket.  There are four of those old stick-on lamps that I had laying around and I connected them to the second floor window sections in each building, but they are of such poor quality it almost wasn't worth it.

The General Store pic is old and doesn't have the lights in it yet.  The Harrison store shows you a nice effect.  Getting a short LED strip to stick in there might be a lot harder to do, plus, you have to get it down to 4.5v.

Believe the early Woodland Scenics buildings had printed interiors, though no illumination with the Menard's versions of them having no interiors at all. Sometime after Woodland Scenics began illuminating their newly released structures they must have begun adding lighting to all the earlier buildings which they were reproducing. IIRC this structure listed for $99 originally without lights, now it is $139.

Nice buildings either way.

Prrhorseshoecurve, oh thank you for your reply!  These lights are exactly what I need, and I didn't know they existed until just now.  I've been using Walthers HO scale wall-mount lights but they don't work everywhere.  I notice the seller offers several styles.  I'm headed down to my layout room right now to see how many of each type I need, and get an order in.

Rradict2, Sorry but I don't understand your question above? The green outside structure "dummy" lights provided by the Mfg do not light  metal lamp up at all. The link prewired  that I provided gets you a metal shade and conduit with a nut at the end to secure the lamp to the structure as well as a prewired smd chip with a resistor at the one end.
