GG1, I will be at the Grand Canyon in early May. I hope it is in the 80's. I don't get it, GG1's in Arizona??????

I grew up on the Jersey Shore and watched and rode behind GG1s from around 1975 to 1983 on the last run.  Being my formative years in the Hobby it's always been my favorite locomotive.  I've lost count of how many I have in O, HO and N.  Over 60 at least.

The south rim of the Grand Canyon in May should be very nice.  Likely 70's and 80's since it's at 7,000 feet.  Phoenix, will be well into the 100's by then since we only sit at an elevation of 1000 feet.  If you are flying into Phoenix and renting a car to drive north, you'll get a brief taste of the weather here!

Jonathan, I too took the Jersey Coast Line. I got on at South Amboy where electrification began (in that era) and where the diesels were swapped out for the GG1's. And the GG1 would wobble its way over the miserable track bed which was the Jersey Coast Line until it hit the mainline and then those babies would take off like they were brand new. A great ride.

I can make it rain by buying a large item in the hall that is farthest from where my car is parked.

Especially if you're parked in a low spot, been there, done that, could have used a rubber raft that day.

For myself, I start checking the weather starting Wednesday the 26th. According to two sources, it will be slightly cloudy for Wednesday through Saturday and no rain. And for Mr. LIONMAN, I hope the A/C Units are on in the halls as they can get a little humid, thus making it harder to concentrate on making a deal here or there.

Wednesday.............chance of Side Rod being at the parking lot waaay too early.................Barney & Scott being fashionably late and holding up the gang possibly due to a cigar break .........

...H. Clarke flying in from Texas and boy are his arms tired................then Gary Noel possibly beating Side Rod to the parking lot!

Then many new friends at Jiffy Lube.....er.......Quacker State & Lubed (as in beverages)!
