Hello all-

Attached are some pics of my newest build - Tom Yorke's Rubbles Depot.

The stone was colored using Pan Pastels.  The roof will be tarnished green copper.  Still have to add the turret on the tower (it is colored and ready to go, but I have to add the interior LED lighting in the tower first)

There is a little railing that goes down the 3 stone steps - I have that fabricated, and will add that last as it is fairly fragile.

Good morning Lee,

I used a very light gray alcohol wash on the casting before the pan pastels. Best not to use paint if possible, it can obscure the details. One can use a light brown, light gray stain, or no stain prior to pan pastels.  It simply changes the tone of the pan pastels a bit.  I think some others use a very thin acrylic wash as well, but I like the alcohol wash first.

That being said, on downtown deco kits, I spray lightly with white primer.  They are a more porous plaster, and work better if sealed

Hello all-

Here are a few updated pics of Rubbles, just about complete - until things get added once it is on the layout.  I put a hanging Grandt line signal on a separate pole, not pictured.

Roofing is real copper, from BIS, weathered with Ferric Chloride then dipped in urine to speed up the greening process.

Thank you all.  I think on my next build, if it will look correct, I might try the metal roofing and making it rust naturally.  Same deal - dip the metal/aluminum BIS roof or Stoney Creek roofing into Ferric Chloride  (btw - I did not come up with this technique - it was 'borrowed' from Mike Lynch in Canada).

Not sure which kit will be next…….

There is some LED lighting on the inside of this one, but I was too lazy to hook it to the transformer and take photos.
