Another train related use for an otherwise unrelated item, the Zip Tie. I picked a zip tie lying in the alley behind the house this morning while walking the dog. I'have used these things at work, our church bazaar, and at home, and today it hit me, ramps! The tie  in the photo  would be more suited to HO or S, as it is 3/16" wide. In O, it would only be about nine inches wide. The larger wider ties would be good for O gauge though. I sprayed it silver first, then misted a coat of gray primer to dull it a bit. I cut these at an inch and a half just for a better photo. Half that length would be more appropriate.

Thanks for the nice comments. At the school district I work for, we're dividing an office, and making two offices; while taking down the ceiling blocks where the wall will go, I found the cut off ends from two large Zip Ties used to fasten flexible duct to the diffuser. These measure 3/8" wide, and have the same locking design as the smaller ties. Perfect for heavy construction ramps, or ramps for ATV's or other vehicles that can be loaded into a pickup or trailer.
