There is.
Have been house searching in the Sarasota area. The realtor said her husband belongs to an O gauge model railroad club.
I will try too find out more info.
The Southern Division of the TCA is hosting a train meet in Venice, FL on September 7th. It is open to the public. That would be a good place to meet lots of O gaugers from the Sarasota-Bradenton area and find out if a club already exists or discuss forming a club.
Also a year or so ago there was a thread on here about someone wanting to start a club in the Tampa Bay area. Not sure what happened to that. Check the archives.
HTH,
Bill
Thanks Charlie and Bill. I would be very interested in your info. I will not be able to attend the Venice meet, maybe the next one.
i'll check the archives.

I live in Tampa. If someone is planning to start an O Gauge club, I would be interested in being a member. I don't remember seeing information on the formation of a Club a year ago.......perhaps I missed it.
I remember that thread and effort to get a club going. Like a lot of the steam restoration pessimists, I gotta call "Never gonna happen". This state is just too dead in terms of train activity and popularity. Also too huge with the potential members being few and far between.

Here’s a link to that Tampa thread last year:

Apparently it didn’t get started. Time to try again.

I agree.
I went to a show last weekend in Ocala. The show was put on by the Lions Club and there was a couple people there with Ocala O scale shirts. I didn't have a chance to talk to any of them. The did have a small layout built with FasTrack. There is another show scheduled in the Villages on August 17 and 18. and I found the below listed shows in the central Florida area. I'm not sure how long I'll be in the Brooksville area, but if I'm still here I'll try to attend a few of these shows.

Wow, back when I used to go to the Great Train Expos we were lucky to get one every 1-2 years. Now three in central Florida all in the span of two weeks? Guess it's time to give these shows another try.....
There used to be shows often in the Tampa Bay area during the fall and winter but summers were always the slow time for shows. We did have a O Scale club that met Wednesdays but unfortunately all those guys are gone now. Chet Holley, Bill Lenore and many others.
