Hello, S-scalers/gaugers,
Anyone who has searched ebay for O scale intermodal the past few years has come across a seller who vends "o-gauge compatible" intermodal containers, which he also gives dimensions for. Given his measurements, his product is exactly 1:64 if they really are 40ft containers. So I bought a package of them.
Sure enough, I put them in my scratchbuilt 1:64 well cars and they fit perfectly. But closer inspection showed that these are some type of 40ft highway trailer, not an ISO shipping container. You can tell by looking at the doors end, as well as the opposite end. Also, he includes snap-in trailer frames for you to display them on a road, if you prefer. Here is some pics.
Does anyone know who made these? Have any 1:64 folk incorporated these into their layouts? Any repaint pics? My guess is that they are k-line, as the design looks similar to 1:48 k-line containers I have. Why does this one individual seem to have the whole run of these?
I am starting to repaint these as they work well as 40ft intermodal containers:
