Also, before I forget again, thought I'd post how my grade crossings were done. The crossings are just foamcore pieces painted. The boards are painted a solid coat of Tamiya German Grey (XF-63).
I then paint faint layers (drybrushing is the closing thing to describe it) of Tamiya Flat Brown (XF-10), Desert Yellow (XF-59), and then a second of Flat Brown.
I then score the lanes that represent wooden planks. I very lightly drybrush Deck Tan (XF-55) using the planks as a guide. A wash of diluted German Grey brings everything together and hides any white that may show through on the score lines. I also use the same techniques on the edges of the foam pieces where they will be visible.
