Reply to "150th Anniversary of Historical Train Event"

The year 1862 does not offend me.  A lot of good things happened that year:

-Julia Howe published, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

-Congress created the Bureau of Engraving and  Printing

-The Homestead Act provided cheap land for the settlement of the West

-There was the first telegraph link between New York and San Francisco

-The bowling bowl was invented

-The Pacific Railroad Acts were passed by Congress, which promoted the Transcontinental RR

-The Western Pacific RR was formed

 

So...not all of 1862 was offensive.  Maybe we need thicker skins.
