Reply to "1938-39 American Flyer 3 rail 4-8-4 UP Northern Steam Engine with two e-unit solenoids"

They made the engine 2 ways in 1941.  One with regular F-N-R reverse, and a remote reverse that would on cycle through the F-N-R sequence only when a shot of 1.5 volts to the track with the supplied controller, or a Lionel transformer with a whistle button.
