The short square magnet is used for resetting the model back to the default factory settings if needed. So do not discard it. Read the pamphlet that came with the models. the other things are spare springs for the trucks.

If you try and run this on DC it takes a lot of voltage to get it to move. DCC is a piece of cake runs very nice.

Bottom line do not throw any thing away.
