There are mating pins available, which will solve the issue of mating Ross and Lionel track. I'd still recommend contacting Steve about tinplate compatibility. He has told me his switches, even Rossplate, aren't compatible with tinplate trains but I don't know about his crossings. Steve is a good guy and you'll get an honest answer from him.
