Reply to "345 Culvert Unloader"

Like Dan, I am trying to re-string a Lionel 345 Culvert Unloader and a 342 Culvert Loader. I printed the diagram that Rob posted in his link. The lengths of the string will help. With the size of my fingers ( large) and the size of the string and springs (small), does anyone have any tips or tricks to get these adjusted properly?

I also noticed that one of the vibrating coils is very loud compared to the other one. Any suggestions about how to reduce the noise level ( other than turn down the volume on my hearing aids)?
