3528 led reels not working

I finally got my rgb led reels ,i believe i have them hooked up correctly ,i did remove the tab for the battery to work but the lights do not come on,there is an adapter in the photo that i don't have installed, unless i am wrong i don't need it for my application , so what if anything am i doing wrong?
