Reply to "3D Model of Fully Functional & Animated Turntable"

Hi all. Well as I mentioned long ago, old & slow. Everything is mounted on the layout and works fined. We still need to do some operational tweeks (software changes) and that requires remove the TT to insert a programming cable (should have planned ahead with USB adapter--oh well). Also, slowed down due to need to protect the train entering the track from running into the TT 'well' if the TT is not in position. I am back to fooling around with optical sensors to break the track voltage before engine runs too far. To do this, had to redesign the layout because one of the entry tracks was too short to allow isolation--long story/major rework. Should be done soooooon. When complete, we will make a fancy video showing all features and post it on youtube.  I will then post a link to that video. By the way, we have decided not to try to market this stuff (have several other items and some in planning). I would be willing to provide the files to print the TT, but must warn you that assembly is a nightmare as is wiring. Then you need to buy a lot of electronics and we don't remember where we got a lot of the stuff.

By the way, as an aside, if anyone can help me to better understand IR sensors, I would appreciated it. I am trying to make an across track detector (to keep train from going too far). I'm using a relay to break track power when beam is broken. Problem is relay requires at least 10ma to activate. However, as I increase current through to IR sensor it becomes very un-sensitve. Maybe need to insert a transistor??
