Scott just called me from China and we chatted for close to an hour about future projects. He will be doing the Santa Fe Chief and will be making available extra sleeping cars for the train. For you PRR and B&O fans please note that SF 4-4-2 sleeping cars were run on the Broadway Limited and the Capitol Limited. They were transferred in Chicago to/from the PRR and B&O.

I personally recall riding the B&O's Columbian from Baltimore to Chicago in 1958 when the consist included a Santa Fe sleeping car. Although the SF sleeper was normally added to the Capitol Limited it was put on the Columbian this time possibly to balance the train consists. The Columbian usually had 8 cars plus a postal car and a Slumbercoach. The SF sleeper would have made it an 11 car train.

The Capitol was normally about 13 cars long. Both trains were usually handled by a pair of E units. Our Columbian helper up Sand Patch grade westbound was a GP9.

For you folks who want to add some variety to your consists here is a realistic opportunity to add a Santa Fe sleeper.

So when are we going to see another PRR passenger train? How about a PRR steamer as well?
