44 tonner slams on the brakes by itself when FYS is engaged

This has me scratching my head. MTH Premier 44 tonner, when engaged, begins freight yard sounds normally, as engine continues to roll. But it slams on the brakes, of it’s own accord, as soon as the initial dialog intro ends. Every other PS2 and PS3 loke I own needs the direction button depressed to stop, and continue FYS, until the sequence plays through, and the engine starts up again.
