How much run time does it have, have you keep it on the O72 loop, and has it always gone clockwise on your layout? If that's really the cause, then I fear I'd better keep a whole slew of them on hand as I'll chew them up due to not just O72 curves, but that curve will be on a nearly 3.75% grade.
