I’m in the process of rehabbing my Bethlehem Steel Triple Action Crane. Some folks on this board were kind enough to suggest that my crane was suffering from hard as a rock caked on old grease which was preventing the gears from turning. They were right. When I opened the first gear box the hearts were caked with SOLID grease, which I have since removed using Blaster and soaking. I then used a dental tool to get the loosened grease out of the teeth. I then replaced it with a small amount of Super Lube. You may be having the same problem.
My latest problem is that I can’t get the second gearbox to open. I’m afraid of damaging or breaking the tabs by using too much pressure.
Any help. Anyone?
