Before you pay, be sure to ask if the method of payment makes any difference. Cash is often a good bargaining chip. Many dealers will discount the price to cover the tax when being paid in cash. Some will reduce the price for cash or check, some won't. If there's no discount, pay with plastic and earn the points.
