Thanks, Gerry. Yes, I painted them on the mountain, which I also painted, with acrylic paints.

What is important to know about painting a backdrop is that you can do it even if you have very little artistic talent like me. The key is to try it, and if you don't like it, when it dries paint over it until you like it. I painted those trees over and over at least 10 times until I came up with what I liked. I also like to get feedback from my wife, who has very good taste when it comes to art, music, etc. From my experience, most women have very good taste when it comes to art and music, so it is very helpful to get their feedback.
