On the 2021, can you spin the wheels by hand? If so, you need an RA from Lionel. For me, the rear wheels of the 2024 lost power as if a linkage broke to the motor. My 2021 stopped working altogether giving me the continuous-blinking-cab-light-of-death. With as many potential problems you might face down the road, I wouldn't risk voiding the warranty.
