I'm by no means an expert on any K-line products but I can share what I do know. Their die-cast 4-bay hoppers are pretty decent models and the ones that I have which are packaged in the black boxes with gold trim (with "compatible with all O/O27 trains" printed on the front of the box) that are identical in every respect to the ones I have that came in the yellow & black boxes with "O SCALE" printed on the upper right. I haven't yet figured out which of their cars are scale sized. I guess it doesn't matter to me in this case because I wanted a coal drag that looked good and buying cars from various manufacturers won't work since they're all different sizes even when they claim to be SCALE-SIZED. (my Lionel 55 ton war emergency hoppers are about half the size of my Atlas 55 ton hoppers and my MTH cars are in between)
If I win the Lottery I will hog all the scale sized K-line I can find. Just kidding. I probably would collect some of their nicest offerings, though, like their 21" passenger cars and matching F unit sets and steam engines. There's what I miss about them going under. If Maury was overly ambitious, ok, but I still very much appreciate what he was trying to accomplish.
