MELGAR posted:In 1963 and in bankruptcy, the New Haven Railroad purchased 12 nearly new electric locomotives, at a cost of only $300,000, from the Norfolk & Western’s Virginian Railway, which had ceased its electric operations. These EF-4s had modern technology, were perfect for the New Haven’s electric infrastructure, and hauled freight between Cedar Hill (New Haven) and Bay Ridge (Brooklyn).
