This sounds like a pretty serious design flaw to me, especially if you had three locos with the problem, but I wonder if it also may be made worse by the sharpness of the curves you run the loco on? O Gaugers, especially 3 railers are known to run on some pretty sharp curves such as O27, O31, etc.
