I also share your bewilderment about the need for exact matching colors versus the prototypical various shades of dirt that the real ones acquired after decades of deferred/no maintenance. I guess it's just another example (like the 20-foot tall gateman and the house-sized switch machines) of the toy-versus-real argument.
