No. The CB&Q diesels were removed or added in Denver, while the D&RGW diesels were removed or added in Salt Lake City, when the WP took over their route of the train.

This change-out of motive power was the main reason the CB&Q quickly ordered additional EMD E7A, and subsequently E8A/E9A, units for their portion of the route. The F3 A-B-A sets were then removed from CZ service within one year, as soon as EMD delivered additional E type passenger units. The F3 units eventually had their gear ratio changed and the steam generators removed, and were then assigned to freight service, although still retained their passenger road numbers.
