@THE SOUTHERN posted:Hi Neal,
I just received the un-powered Atlas O SR GP-35 that you had replied to my earlier inquiry about the release date. I now have another question. Did yours have electro couplers and, if it did, how did they function (since the locomotive is un-powered)? I bought it from an eBay seller who also has a brick and mortar train store in PA. I'm beginning to believe someone had begun an attempt at powering the unit and may have run into a roadblock (parts availability). There are some other "issues" with it that I'm not sure if the seller did, or did not, know about (and I probably couldn't prove, either way). I can work around non-functioning electro couplers (just keep them closed), but the side plate mounting tabs on one side of the rear truck are broken through the screw hole. I can repair the truck, but would rather replace it if I can find a parts source. That particular part (gearbox, part # 140501) is not shown as available on the Atlas website. Do you know of another source of Atlas O locomotive parts? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Best regards,
All of Atlas O non powered have the coil couplers installed, but not wired.
I have not found a source for a truck for these as well, and this is also a common failure...seems worse on the engines with the alco trade in trucks.
