Reply to "Atlas 'O' Trainman TSE 50' Box Car Dates?"

I don't have that particular car. I model 1944 and try to stick to cars built before that date. It is frustrating when you open the box of a new car and find out it was built at a later date than you model. I thought I did my research on some meat reefers. Only to find out they were still building new 36 ft. ones in the late 40's. Should have done some more homework. Often times the car is correct as far as the built date but it has a later paint scheme. I wish the manufactures would offer a little more info on the prototype. These aren't $20.00 dollar cars anymore. The Atlas Masterline is approaching $80.00 now.

I love the Atlas Trainman 50 ft. Single sheathed cars. Affordable and a good level of detail. Perfect car for an operator. The second one I purchased was in my era as far as the build date. 1927. After looking the car over and reading the fine print. It had the journal boxes relubed in 1955 and another mark. MS 1955. These are things easily fixed by removing or painting over them. When your buying mail order you can't see all the reporting marks till you unbox it. The few cars I buy at shows. People probably wonder what I'm looking at holding the box up and staring at it.
