What you might want to consider doing is purchasing the Atlas O Steam Era Classic Box Cars, both the Woodside and the Steel Re-Built Box Cars are from the era you want. They have greater detail than the Atlas Trainman Series Box Cars also, and you will not need to fix anything as far as the ident is concerned. I own some of these detailed Atlas O Master Rolling Stock Box Cars and I really like them very much. IMO they are well worth owning. Atlas O may have made some Steam Era TSE RR Box Cars, they made my (WAG) Wellsville, Addison & Galeton, Sole Leather Line Box Cars and that was one very small mountain Logging Railroad to model.
